Ohio has been ground zero for the UAW’s record layoffs over the past year, with almost 7,000 temporary or indefinite layoffs affecting UAW members in Ohio. Thousands of UAW members have missed paychecks due to temporary layoffs in Ohio and hundreds of supplemental employees have lost their jobs permanently.
These supplemental employees were dues-paying UAW members who were promised job security by the UAW in its 2023 contract. Instead of job security, they lost their jobs.

“Shawn Fain had a lot of people fooled. We thought he was for us, that we had gotten the corrupt people out. He was named ‘man of the year,’ but he let us down… We were walking around the plant every day asking the UAW what was happening. They said they didn’t know? Why didn’t they know, they were taking dues out of our checks every month.”
